Local walks in The Chilterns
The Lady Grey Tearoom is a great place to start or finish several of the areas most scenic walks.
Coombe Hill
There are few people who will not have heard of The Ridgeway, an ancient trail that meanders over hilltops from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Overton Hill near Avebury in Wiltshire.
The local walk from Wendover to the Coombe Hill monument takes about 1.5 – 2 hours and covers approximately 3 miles of woodland trails, about a third of the distance is uphill. The monument stands on a high point, overlooking the Vale of Aylesbury and is a very popular with walkers and sightseers.
If you would like to take a packed lunch, we will be very happy to put one together for you. The walk is a steady climb, up gradients that are quite manageable enough for most people and once at the top the views are well worth the effort of getting there.
The bonus is that once there, it is an easier walk back down again and there is nothing better than a nice pot of tea to revive yourself with.

Wendover Woods
If you would like something longer, then the Wendover Woods walk is a little over twice as far. At about 7 miles, you should be prepared to walk for about 3.5 – 4 hours.
The walk has about 2 miles of uphill walking and mostly follows The Ancient Ridgeway and has superb views over Buckinghamshire countryside at various points along the way.
The Chilterns Area of Outstandiung Beauty website has a downloadable leaflet describing both walks on their website. Just click the photograph and you can download it as a PDF.
